About Mr.McConnell

Hi guys, my name is Marlon and I am now studying at UBC in Vancouver Canada. I think Mr. McConnell is the best English teacher you can find in Fuzhou. Lots of things that we learn from Chinese English schools are either inaccurate or even wrong. When you learn a language, you should take your best chance to learn from a native speaker. The English teachers in normal middle or high schools usually have non-genuine knowledge about how English is really spoken in the western worlds and often tend to teach “exam-tricks” instead of actual English communication skills. If you turn to public commercial English schools like EF, which are actually filled with undedicated/unprofessional English teachers (some of them are even just travellers), what you will experience is spending tons of money while getting little in return. Mr. McConnell has spent years dealing with typical Chinese students and has his own unique way of correcting our “wrong” ideas about English. A fun fact is that after spending just months with him, even my Canadian friends would say, “Hey Marlon, I actually thought you were a Canadian Born Chinese(CBC)!”.
大家好，我叫Marlon，我现在就读于加拿大温哥华的英属哥伦比亚大学。我认为Mr. McConnell是你们能在福州找到的最好的英语老师。许多我们从中国的英语学校学来的英语知识都是要么不准确，要么甚至是错误的。当你在学习一门语言的时候，你应该尽最大可能找到一个以此为母语的人来教你。普通初高中里的英语老师其实并不了解真正的老外是怎么讲英语的，而且这些中国的老师会更倾向于教我们考试的技巧，而不是真实的英语沟通能力。如果你选择去一些社会上的英语学校，比如EF，其实这些学校的老师都是临时被培训的，不专业的英语老师，很多甚至只是来福州旅游的临时缺钱。去这些学校你会发觉你花了很多钱，但是还是没有什么明显的进展。Mr. McConnell 有好多年教学中国学生英语的经验，并且有他自己独到的方法来纠正我们对英语错误的认识。一个有趣的事实是，当我在他这儿学习了几个月之后，就连我在温哥华的加拿大老外朋友们也会对我说：“Hey Marlon，你的英语让我一直以为你是一个加拿大本地出生的华人呢！（CBC）”

The Best Teacher I know

Hello, everyone! My name is Jason, I am 19 years old, I am studying at New York University right now. During the period of 12 to 18 years old I studied with Mr McConnell to learn English. He is a very strict and serious teacher,and thanks to that, those 6 years with him has become my most valuable time. He taught me how to get along with others, how to communicate, how to think and solve problems, how to arrange my time and how to make the right decisions in the most difficult situations. So far I still think he is more serious than any other  teachers I have met. If you have the opportunity to follow the teachers guidance he can definitely make you into a better student.Of course, this process will be very difficult, because you will have to abandon your familiar habits to become a better you, but if you are successful, you will thank yourself and definitely appreciate the teacher too.
大家好！我叫Jason，19岁，就读于美国纽约大学。我于12-18岁期间跟随Mr.McConnell学习英语；他是一位非常严格认真的老师，也正是因为如此，跟着老师的六年时间成了我最宝贵的时间，他教我如何与人相处和沟通、如何思考和解决问题、如何合理安排利用自己的时间以及如何在最困难的时候做出正确的决定。至今为止我仍然觉得没有任何一位老师比他更认真，有教给我更多东西的。假如你有幸跟随老师学习，他绝对可以将你转变成为更好的学生。当然，这过程肯定是很艰难的，因为你要抛弃熟悉的自己，变成另一个更好的自己，但是如果你成功了，你会感谢老师，也会感谢自己。
